Now that June is over it's time to tally the savings that everyone who participated in Val's (of Val's Quilting Studio) savings challenge this past year.
I saved both $5 bills and my change - both have been my practice to do the last few years. I lost track of what my savings were in the bills, but it was over $150. That was part of what I used for my earnest money used to purchase my new house (aka my quilt studio!). And I've traded in my coins twice because I don't have a big jar, and that totaled up to about $100. Don't know what I'm going to do with that money yet.
I'm already starting to fill the jar with change for this year and have accumulated over $30 so far. Definitely an easy way to save!
Gratitudes:
1. A good drive home from work yesterday
2. For the two quilts from one of my coworkers that will be a blessing to someone.
Hi, Moira -- nice to see a familiar name on the Piggy Bank link up. Congratulations on a successful year of savings. I'm sure you're enjoying your new house.
ReplyDeleteGreat job with saving. . . and great reasons to save.
ReplyDeleteWonderful saving! You never know when a little extra will come in handy - like at MQG, if we manage to go! I probably totaled about $60 in the last year - part of vacation spending money to Edi's last fall, and the rest is still in the jar - I actually lost my jar when I went to the credit union to count it, so I'm using a cup now. =P That was just change, and it helps that I'm using Dave Ramsey's envelopes so I don't pay for groceries with my debit card!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how quickly those coins and smaller bills can add up? I have been saving my coins for years, but I usually use a credit card these days for just about everything - it tracks where I'm spending money for me and with paying it off every month, I don't pay interest. Perhaps I should go back to using cash and see if I spend less!! So excited that you were able to use some of your savings for buying your personal quilting studio!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Moira. Any savings, no matter how smLl, is a success. Not to mention the wonderful acquisition of your own personal quilt studio!!!
ReplyDeleteMoira....thanks for participating....isn't it amazing how change adds up. ENJOY your new quilty studio. :) :)
