Row-Hopping, Day 1 - Part 2

I went to one final store on my first day of row hopping.  This store is Pieced Together Studio and they are in downtown Mesquite.  Of the ones that are closest to me this is my favorite one.  Square footage speaking, it isn't a huge store but there are lots of goodies in it.  And great prices (at least right now!) on their clearance fabrics at 60-70% off of the original price.

My first stop in the store was looking at fabrics for the three hat boxes that I need to make for the planned quilt.  I found a two tone grey on grey polka dot for part of the attic window, and two prints for hat boxes.  Quarter yards of both came home with me.

Also found were three pieces of yardage from the clearance section.  Top 2 are 3 yd pieces and were 60% off retail, and the bottom one was just over 4 yds and because I finished the bolt was 70% off retail.   All are planned for backgrounds of scrappy quilts.

The last stop was going through their scrap bin which is in a large metal trash can.  Gallon sized bags that you fill with whatever scraps you want are only $4.99 a bag....they just need to close when you buy them.   This one did....barely.....lol.   It stayed closed long enough for me to check out and leave the store, of course it took me about 5 minutes to convince the bag that I really did want it to zip closed.

Also included in with the row pattern was one of the little gadgets used to make ripping stitches out easier.

When taken out this bag full of scraps looked like this -  most of the pieces are larger ones, along with a couple of block sections and a couple of rail fence blocks.

In that bunch is one grouping of bright, summery prints and a couple of dog panels that are enough to make most of a kids quilt.   I'll add some bright solids with the prints and make something that will probably end up for Sunshine or for a kiddo somewhere.   The rest of the scraps will be integrated into my scrap bags and used for future projects.

Gratitudes:

1. Long weekend which means time for me to go row-hopping on the other side of the DFW metroplex.

2. For the freedoms that I have as a US citizen, may I never forget what those that have gone before me have given and done.

  1. I haven't been out at all still! I do enjoy seeing what you are getting, though. Lots of good things crammed into that baggie.
