Had a snow day yesterday thanks to the storm that went through here. Used part of the time to try to find the software installation CD Notebook that I know is around here somewhere.....no success there.
However, I did make progress on my purse. Everything is now done except for sewing the zipper panel in for the main body of the purse and the final binding for the top edges. Pic shows the purse, but color isn't the greatest because I had to use my phone to take the pic.
Only problem I've had in making this critter is figuring out how to put the zipper panel in at the top. Instructions say to "pin the panel and baste everything together". What they don't say is how you're supposed to do all that.............grrrr. Good thing I've been sewing for a lot of years. I think I've finally figured out how to do it. Just need to trim the panel so that it fits better and then I can stitch it in tonite when i get home from school.
Gratitudes:
1. Nice neighbors who help clear snow from driveways after a big storm.
2. Plow Drivers who raise the plow when they drive by your driveway so as not to bury your driveway again. =)

Tea Towel Challenge
I'm running behind in getting this going..........thankfully I'm not the only one that is lat with it. I've finally had a breakthrough on a possible layout....shown to the right. I've found three blocks that I'm seriously considering using in the quilt, so the layout will likely change since I'm having trouble thinking of something else for a main block. I do want to add words into the quilt, but not sure how I want to do that.
Am also considering adding appliqued blocks such as a double-decker bus, a red phone booth, the tower bridge, the Thames River....and who knows what else. Time will tell what all I end up doing with this.
Gratitudes:
1. With all the snow yesterday, the power never went out.
2. My laptop is fixed and back home, even if I can't find where the installation CD's are for all of my software.

Sewing, but no quilting this week.
I'll be headed to a professional conference at the end of the month and decided I needed a new purse. The one I that I've been using for close to 5 yrs now is in sad repair. I've managed to totally shred two of four layers of denim in the straps and the front pocket is wearing through in a couple of places as well. I bought some heavy weight denim, and a couple of twill remnants for the purse.
The pattern that I used can be seen here. For the most the instructions have been good, but there were a couple things that were left out so it was good that I've been sewing for yrs. Lots of pockets in it, and even the inset pockets have cooperated w/o problems for me. Only thing I have to decide on yet is what color to make the binding for the top of the purse - match the blue, or find a contrasting color that works with the pockets.
I should have it finished up tonite or tomorrow. All depends on how tired I am when I get home from school tonite (two errands to run on the way home - a return at Joann's and then gotta get gas for the car). Snow is due to arrive here tonite and then be heavy out here tomorrow, so who knows if school will be cancelled or not.
Next up to be worked on is my London Tea Towel wallhanging. I just need inspiration for it.
Gratitudes -
1. the wonderful balmy weather yesterday and today.
2. the purse has been going together easily.

Almost done.....
I've almost finished the American Heroes quilt that started with Fav Fabric blocks. All blocks are now made, including having finished off the setting triangles. I just need to cut the fabric for the sashing (will be out of COC) and then put it together.
The final border will be the red floral print, and there will be an initial border of COC as well. Haven't decided tho if I'm going to add another border between the COC and the red print.
However before this gets finished I need to make myself a new purse before the strap on my current one totally wears out. So that is up next on my plate.
Gratitudes:
1. The storm last weekend wasn't any worse than it was, in spite of the freezing rain that went through ahead of the ice.
2. For the job that God has provided for me.
