Over the weekend I worked on a few different projects.  Here are the ones I made progress on.

The green strips were sewn onto these blocks.  I still need to dig out fabric for the corner triangles to finish them up and to use in the remaining blocks.

Then on Sunday I finally got this block made.  This is Misty who is a mischievous kitten who is playing in one of her owner's hat boxes.

The pattern had been drawn up for a couple of weeks but I had been dawdling in getting the sample block made.  The fabric for the hat is a Moda, and the one for the hat box is a Kaffe Fawcett.  Both were bought over the weekend while I was row-by-row hopping.  The background fabric is from a FQ that was I got in last years shoe box Swap.  Everything else is from my scraps.

On Sunday I also started the next scrappy critter quilt.  And it will use up most of the shorter scrap strips of the light to medium pinks that I have.

This will be made with 2 inch finished (2.5" cut) squares and lots of them!  Was thankful that I have a full sandwich baggie of the WOW already cut to start the quilt with because I don't use this size a lot.  There will be 29 rows and 23 squares wide.   That makes a total of 667 squares in the finished quilt.  Don't know if I'll sell this one or donate it.   Time will tell.

Gratitudes:

2. My stash and all the possibilities in it.

Potential New Block of the Month for 2017

I have a commissioned quilt that I'll be working on starting after I finish the current t-shirt quilt up and get it shipped off.

This new quilt will have 12 appliqued teddy bear blocks in it.   I am considering writing those 12 blocks up as a block of the month for my blog and then at the end of the year putting them into a full quilt pattern that would be for sale.

However, before I do all that work I thought I'd run a quick survey to see what kind of interest there would in it.   To complete the survey, click on here -->   Take Survey

Gratitudes:
1. For the ability to design and create quilts

2. For the desk that I will be getting from work and being able to use it for my quilting.

New Block Design

I worked on one new design this week...and love how it turned out.....  This one is "simple" with only 57 pieces of fabric in the finished block.  Well, simple compared to a couple of the blocks I designed and made for the Modern Quilt block design contest.

I finished the sample block last night, and it is my final F2F block for this month and will be going to one of my best quilting buddies, Susan.  =)  Love the colors, and the purple has metallic gold dots all over it.

The design for the block reminds me of the ribbons used in rhythmic gymnastics.

However, once this sample block was finished I realized I forgot one teensy thing for the pattern...lol...  See the difference between the block below and the latest block?  Yup, they spin in different directions.   Seems I forgot to flip the pattern for this latest block so that it would spin in the correct direction.  I've corrected that in my pattern....but I know that my friend won't care so the sample block isn't wasted.

This makes 6 blocks I believe that I've done w/a common shape (but not pattern).  Time to be working on patterns for using them and on writing up instructions for each block.   Once the latter is done then I can put out a call for friends to test the block pattern for me.

Gratitudes:
1. Low pressure is here or through and my knee is feeling much better!

2. Time off for Thanksgiving has been approved.  =)

Sewing again.

Now that the reunion is over and I'm back home, I've been able to get back to sewing and quilting.   The quilt for the design contest is basted.....but I may have to redo it because I think I forgot to press the top first............sigh...........at least tho I have an idea on how I'm going to quilt it.

Over the last week I've been able to get another couple of blocks designed and sample blocks made of the patterns.   Now to get busy and start working on the patterns for them.

I also worked up a bunch of extra blocks that will be used as fillers on future American Hero quilts.
